Enterprises everywhere are seeking greater value creation or in some cases just competitive survival through Digital Transformation. At the same time greater than 70% of organizations are not obtaining the desired benefit from their Digital Transformation activities. This is often due to a lack of priority and focus on transforming an enterprise’s most important value generating process – Innovation. Innovation includes a holistic enterprise and lifecycle view while also capturing and empowering the rapid reuse of core competencies. This workshop will make the case for and introduce many digital transformation frameworks, languages, and methods for digitally transforming the innovation process. Topics will include model based systems engineering (MBSE) which is more than just the Systems Modeling Language (SysML). Systems engineering covers the complete systems lifecycle from initial conception to requirements to development to manufacture to deployment and maintenance and retirement. It also includes complex Enterprise Architectures, Systems of Systems (SoS), systems, subsystems, and components. Systems engineering tools also need to cover this complete system scope and lifecycle with traceability between them, comprising a digital engineering thread and an Authoritative Source of Truth (ASOT). This workshop will take students on a digital engineering journey through the systems lifecycle with exercises demonstrating the benefits of each element in the digital engineering thread and how they fit together.
This Digital Engineering workshop introduces the Digital Engineering landscape to include SysML, UAF, Digital Thread, Digital Twin and more.
